Antarctica

A world of dramatic landscapes and stark contrasts. The unmistakable sense of adventure. Aboard a large cruise ship or yacht, always prepared to sail on a sea of ice, following in the footsteps of explorers Scott and Shackleton. Heading to Antarctica, expeditions with naturalists sail through icy bays with whales. Stepping off the boat to walk among penguins.

Observing sea lions and elephant seals up close. Seeing colonies of millions of birds on remote islands. Ships to Antarctica depart during the summer from the city of Ushuaia.

Traveling on IAATO (International Association Antarctica Tour Operators) registered vessels with hulls reinforced for ice navigation is recommended. You can choose between a large cruise ship—with capacity for 150 to 300 passengers—which does not disembark on land, or smaller, more exclusive vessels accompanied by naturalist guides with whom you can make several landings daily. Itineraries vary by company and include: South Orkney Islands, the Coronation Islands, Elephant Island, the South Shetland Islands, Deception and adjacent islands, Antarctica from Cape Dubouzet to the Ross Sea, or from Lemaire Channel to Margaret Bay. IMPORTANT: This trip must be booked several months in advance.
